Obama to Intensify AIDS Fight Despite Economic Recession

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama pledged on Friday to redouble efforts to fight HIV and AIDS through his global health initiative, despite dealing with economic hard times in the wake of a global recession.

This I think is a good news given the severity of the increasing number of people who are being infected with HIV everyday. HIV is a serious health risk and everybody should be involved in making sure that vaccines are created soon and cure discovered. A lot of people have lost their friends, loved ones, and important figures in society because of this disease.

Before, homosexuals and drug addicts are seen the groups being associated with HIV/AIDS. Now that almost all gender groups suffer HIV/AIDS at the same level the issue has become more encompassing.
To date, there are around 33.4 million who are infected with HIV with many of them in the African region.
